Welcome to our restored blog! This post is about two and half years after completing our trip. When preparing for the trip, I had paid for a three-year website hosting plan and done my own blogging. When the three-years were up, the renewal cost was quadruple the initial cost! Since the primary purpose of the blog was to allow friends and family to follow along as we went and we had already created an offline copy of it for our own historical records, we decided to let the blog lapse.
What we are finding though, is that the story of our trip
inevitably comes up in conversations with new people that we meet, usually
accompanied by a comment like “you should have kept a blog!” 😊 After
a few of those, I decided to see what I could do to reconstruct the original
blog as best I could into the Blogger platform, which is free.
Blogger isn’t as polished as doing it yourself and you are
limited in what you can do, but it gets close enough to make it worth the
effort. One of the issues we have with Blogger is that I’m unable to
configure it to present the blog in chronological order. Therefore, if you
follow the country or date links on the right side (or simply scroll down), you
will see all the posts for the country or month with the newest first. To
help with this, I created the Chronological Index tab at the top which contains
all the posts starting at the beginning and is the best way to learn about our
trip from start to finish.
Enjoy!
